Court slaps 15 year jail term to Dr. Bhaktaman’s abductors
KATHMANDU JUNE 6 District Court Chitwan on Wednesday slapped 15 years jail term to two persons, including one Indian national, convicting them of kidnapping of Dr. Bhaktaman Shrestha of B.P Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Bharatpur.
A single bench of Justice Bhola Nath Chaulagain announced jail term to Bhimsen Pandit and Rohit Paliwal, the Indian national, for masterminding the abduction of Dr. Shrestha.The court even slapped Rs. 10.85 million to the convicts.
“The court slapped 13 years jail term to Pandit and Paliwal under kidnapping and hostage charge and two years additional for being involved in organized crime, informed a court official.
Likewise, the court also slapped 13 years jail term to other accomplices Badri Dhungana, Nabin Chhetri, Sunil Shrestha and Subba Tamang.
The kidnappers had taken Dr. Bhattarai into hostage on May 19, 2010 from Chitwan and had released him at Majhimtar, border of Dhading and Chitwan districts after taking a ransom of Rs. 10. 85 million on the 19th day.
